Copenhagen Airport Strengthens Its Media Platform with New International Partner
From 1 January 2027, Media Port will become the new media partner at Copenhagen Airport. The collaboration marks the beginning of a new chapter and strengthens the airport’s advertising and media platform, which reaches a large international audience through strong digital solutions and hero formats. The ambition is to create one of Northern Europe’s most attractive premium media arenas for advertisers and agencies.
Copenhagen Airport and Media Port are entering a new strategic partnership for the development and management of the airport’s media platform. Media Port is an international airport media specialist, developing and operating media solutions in airports such as Istanbul Airport and Riga Airport.
The agreement represents a strategic step for Copenhagen Airport and comes at a time of strong passenger growth with the opening of one of the airport’s largest terminal expansions just around the corner.
- Copenhagen Airport is undergoing significant development. This is therefore the right time to rethink our media platform. With Media Port, we gain a partner with extensive international experience in airport media, and our ambitions are high. We aim to make Copenhagen Airport one of Northern Europe’s most attractive media arenas for advertisers, agencies, and brands, says Peter Krogsgaard, Chief Commercial Officer (CCO) at Copenhagen Airport.
A Global Audience Reach
Copenhagen Airport is the largest in the Nordic region and is strengthening its position as a gateway to and from Northern Europe. Last year, 32.4 million passengers passed through the terminals. Two out of three are international travellers, and for one in four, Copenhagen serves as a transfer airport for onward journeys across the globe. In particular, travellers from the US increasingly use Copenhagen as an entry point to the Nordics and the rest of Europe.
- The international reach gives advertisers access to a large, global audience. This makes Copenhagen Airport an attractive media window for both Danish and international brands, says Peter Krogsgaard.
New Terminal, New Opportunities
As part of the partnership, Copenhagen Airport is rethinking its media platform ahead of 2027 with new digital surfaces, LED technology, and greater flexibility in campaign delivery. The portfolio will have a clear premium profile with new hero formats and seven unique placements in some of the airport’s busiest areas.
Passengers can look forward to an even better travel experience when Terminal 3 opens in 2027, marking one of the largest expansions in the airport’s history. The 60,000 new square metres will feature new service areas, more space, and an open-air garden.
At the same time, advertisers and agencies will gain entirely new opportunities for reach, visibility, digital formats, and activations that bring brands closer to the more than 32 million passengers annually.
- The terminal opens up new, premium touchpoints in the heart of Copenhagen Airport. This means advertisers gain access to attractive exposure opportunities in some of the airport’s busiest and most dynamic areas, right where travellers are most engaged, says Peter Krogsgaard, Commercial Director at Copenhagen Airport.
Bringing International Experience to Denmark
For Media Port, the agreement with Copenhagen Airport is an important step into the Danish market and Scandinavia, and an opportunity to bring the company’s international experience in airport media to one of Northern Europe’s key airports.
- As one of Europe’s leading international hubs, Copenhagen Airport holds a strong global position, recognized for its high passenger quality, design-forward environment, and consistently strong commercial performance. As Media Port, we see great potential in developing airport media with digital solutions, premium formats, and commercial opportunities that align with both the airport’s position and advertisers’ needs. We look forward to working with Copenhagen Airport to deliver a best-in-class advertising ecosystem in such a high-profile environment, which will reflect both our strategic vision and the strength of our collective expertise, says Dilruba Karakaş, CEO of Media Port.
